Parkland Pillar Birch brings white bark, dense dark green foliage and a narrow, upright shape to the landscape. Its leaves turn golden yellow in late fall, giving this fast-growing birch seasonal colour without the broad spread of a larger shade tree.
Plant it as a vertical accent, along a boulevard or in a row for a leafy privacy screen, typically spaced 3 feet apart. Its low canopy and dense growth suit screening, while tolerance of heat, drought and alkaline soils makes it a useful choice for urban gardens. Your existing planting guidance also identifies it as a stronger option for windy sites than columnar aspens.
