Gemini is a hardy apple that ripens mid August to mid September. The fruit is medium-large (7-8 cm) red over pale yellow colored, has a crunchy texture and tastes sweet and juicy. It is great for eating fresh and for cooking. Fruit can be stored for up to four months.
Tree has good hardiness, but all apples grow best in a wind-sheltered area. For best fruiting, prune annually to avoid dense growth; ripening fruit needs lots of sunlight. Like all apple trees, it requires a second apple variety nearby for cross-pollination to produce a good crop of apples.
This variety requires a different selection of the same species growing nearby in order to set fruit. These come in 5 gallon containers - approximately 3 feet in height above the container.
